Description of Product: The Portfolio of Quality Educational Web Resources assignment is intended to expand your horizons and at the same time allow you to spend the time and effort to find quality educational Web resources for your classroom. Relevant is a key word for this assignment and you are the one who determines relevant. Find quality Web resources that are relevant for you and your instructional responsibilities. (Note: A common complaint among teachers is they don't have time to search the Web for material - this assignment is intended to give you that time.) How do I keep track of all these quality resources? That’s always a good question and people have gone through many personal transitions from having them bookmarked (or in favorites), on sheets of paper in a folder, on index cards, in a Word document, on a Website (where they created the Web pages), and most recently, using wikis and social bookmarking sites! For this course, you will use a social bookmarking site to record all of your Web resources! We will categorize our Web resources by topic, and the most important part for identifying bookmarks by topic on a social bookmarking site is the concept of tags.
Process of Selecting Categories: My position this year has taken me out of the classroom and placed me in an office. In this newly created position, I am responsible for supporting three aspects of education in our school: Teacher Quality, Parent Involvement and Student Improvement. I tried to choose a variety of sites that would support parents, teachers and students in some capacity and categorized them as I saw them being most useful.

Reflection: I really enjoyed learning about the online bookmarking site. I have a computer that I use primarily when I'm at work and my personal computer that I use at home. I find the idea of saving my bookmarks to one site and being able to access them from both places really convenient. The site was fairly simple to use and very easy to access.
